Shanxi Province Hosts the Largest Alumina Refinery in China
TAIYUAN, January 16 (CEIS) - Shanxi Province hosts the largest alumina refinery in China, the Shanxi Alumina Refinery. The production of the refinery has already broken the designed capacity of 1.2 million tons. The capacity will be expanded to 2.2 million tons after the refinery¡¯s 800,000-ton third-phase project is completed in 2005. In a long run, the province aims at an alumina refining capacity of 3.2-3.5 million tons. Shanxi¡¯s aluminium semis production was only 40,004 tons in 2000, mostly rod. There is no ambitious plan for expanding semis production, with the 2005 goal set at 60,000-80,000 tons.Enditem
